Meet Ling-Li
Ling-Li Tseng is an architect and artist who playfully explores the process of making. She believes people can experience freedom, fantasy, the thrill of an adventure through a well-designed play. In recent years, she has been seeking out opportunities to transform the negative or ambiguous into something ludic in space, material, and even people’s mental cognition.
“The Karst landscape of central Florida is covered with sinkholes, caused by the collapse of the ground into a vast system of underground limestone caves. These sinkholes activities cause land subsidence and accelerate flooding in Florida. Geologists predict that 70% place of central Florida will become a huge wet land connected to everglade in the future. People who live in this area keep using piers, grouting, and underpinning to strength the ground structure. However, these ways are not a good long term solution in nature time scale. This thesis will turn the disaster into an opportunity for Architecture by creating a series of infrastructural prototypes work with the natural forces of this extreme landform.”
