Decue has a particular love for our feline friends, and owns a cat of her own affectionally called Sashimi. This illustration is part of a personal series on the beloved creature, celebrating the friendship between a girl and her cat.

Treating this series as a personal project, Decue adds much complexity and playfulness to the illustration. Subtle trompe-oeils and uncanny composites can be observed here: the protagonist face and the book cover, the flower patterns on the dress and the vase, the earrings and the hair, the cover of the books on her desk…

About Decue Wu

Decue's work has been featured in Vogue, The New York Times and Esquire. Originally from Shenzhen, China, she graduated from Maryland Institute College of Arts with a Master in Illustration Practice. In 2014, she moved to Boston and began working for MIT as a Graphic Artist and Production Designer. Pursuing greater design opportunities, Decue recently transplanted to LA where she is focusing on her freelance work, and working at a startup as head graphic designer.

Decue has always been greatly influenced by fashion. Some of inspirations include Yves St Laurent, Helmut Lang, Hussein Chalayan, Alexander McQueen and Rei Kawakubo. More than fashion, Decue’s clients include Airbnb, Sony Music, MIT and Singapore Airlines.
