This illustration was made for a show entitled ‘Botanica' hosted by Light Grey Art Lab in New York City. Decue was exclusively invited to participate to the event with a handful of artists.

”The featured bird and flower share the same name, Bird of Paradise. Geographically, they don’t have any connection, with the bird residing in X and the flower growing in Y, and yet the similarities are astounding. The goal of my piece is to connect these two beautiful species and celebrate the coincidence of nature."

About Decue Wu

Decue's work has been featured in Vogue, The New York Times and Esquire. Originally from Shenzhen, China, she graduated from Maryland Institute College of Arts with a Master in Illustration Practice. In 2014, she moved to Boston and began working for MIT as a Graphic Artist and Production Designer. Pursuing greater design opportunities, Decue recently transplanted to LA where she is focusing on her freelance work, and working at a startup as head graphic designer.

Decue has always been greatly influenced by fashion. Some of inspirations include Yves St Laurent, Helmut Lang, Hussein Chalayan, Alexander McQueen and Rei Kawakubo. More than fashion, Decue’s clients include Airbnb, Sony Music, MIT and Singapore Airlines.
