On Goldeneye

“Goldeneye” is an architectural image displaying the inside of a roof with a large circular opening embedded in its structure. The opening reveals a clear blue sky and also lets a few rays of sun to pass inside the structure from which the image is taken. The format of the structure goes back to one of the most canonised buildings in western history of architecture; Pantheon in Rome. The signature ceiling made from early roman concrete revolutionised classical architecture and put Rome at the forefront of the modern world (as for the renaissance).

Although the structure in Kravanja’s image is clearly made of steel, the shape and execution of the structure goes back to the roman architectural heritage, thus resonating with the western history of architecture.
